Meet Melinda,
Finding Purpose In Your Scars is a testament to overcoming domestic violence which is my up close and personal journey throughout my young adulthood. It took for me to rebuild my self-esteem and confidence that led me to become more self-aware. Over the last couple of years, I have pushed my way to build my self-esteem and self-confidence by practicing self-care and believing in myself. Throughout my experiences, I managed to find purpose in my scars.
I spent the last 17 years working in accounting and the local government while furthering my education to obtain my bachelor’s degree. With my background as an accountant and working with the public using my customer service skills, I’ve taped those skills to be able to work and problem solve authenticity, confidently, and professionally. I have become well equipped to handle one-on-one interactions with clients. I can demonstrate critical and listening skills that allow me to understand customer problems.
One thing I love to do when it comes to self-love is to dance and listening to jazz, calypso, and gospel music. It brings me joy and uplifts my spirit.
I always wanted to have my own business to impact, to inspire other women. I kept hearing stories about domestic abuse relationships and this subject has always been near to my heart. It is through the grace of God that I survived my domestic violence and was able to use my voice to empower other women. Own Your Beauty Babe, was born from my personal experience with domestic violence. During my teen years, I struggled with self-esteem issues. By the age of 20, I was a victim of a domestic abuse relationship. So as you can see, I am deeply passionate about helping women own their beauty because this can keep you in a cycle of abuse without the proper support. This is the main reason why I focus on awareness, support, and getting out of abusive and dysfunctional relationships. I am intentional with my business to support and empower women to thrive so they can build their confidence and self-esteem. The completion of my Domestic Violence Advocacy Training program allows me to work directly with survivors of domestic violence. Therefore, I am taking a stand for all women who suffer in silence with domestic violence to empower them and make a difference with their voices.
